Laptop battery optimization

Battery is an important component when maintain a laptop. When activate a laptop, many people prefer to run out of the power until the laptop automatically shutdown, and then charge it with an external AC adapter for 12-15 hours, after fully charged then discharge, repeat such process for three times to completely activate the battery. But, this is wrong!

This kind of method is for the nickel-cadmium, nickel-metal hydride rechargeable batteries, but not applies to nowadays lithium batteries and lithium polymer batteries, over charge and over discharge will cause irreparable harm to lithium batteries so we should take it carefully. Besides, keep the battery in the laptop when using an AC adapter to charge won’t cause over charge, because there is charging control and protective circuit in laptop which can stop charging when battery is fully charged.

It is recommended to charge and use anytime with lithium battery, do not over charge and over discharge is the best way to protect your battery. As for battery depletion, lithium and nickel-metal hydride battery is different at different stages that will have different behavior, how to reduce the loss? Remember, never over charge and over discharge.
