Asus K53SV Laptop Testing

CPU performance

If the Asus K53SV may use both cores in the multi-mode under Cinebench R10 (32 bit), the system comes with an Intel CPU on 7979 points. Intel's quad-core Intel Core i7-720QM already achieved this in the Lenovo IdeaPad Y570 significantly more points (8359). For applications that are designed for multiple cores benefits of quad-core processor by its double the number of cores compared to the Intel Core i5 2410M strong. Under Cinebench R11 CPU ends up with 2.5 points in the same range as other notebooks with Intel Core i5 2410M. Overall, the notebook with Intel's dual-core processor Core i5 2410M can be found in the higher Midfield our test database.
Application Performance

With PCMark Vantage and the new PCMark 7 benchmark tool from Futuremark, we set the application peformance of the K53SV to the test. In PCMark Vantage is presented with 6043 points for the middle of our database, surrounded by similar configurations. In the recent issue PCMark 7, the Asus laptop had to classify something later. Here, the database does not contain too many items.

Performance graphics card

As usual, we first tested the graphics performance based on the 3DMark benchmark series. In this case reached the NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M, the typical results of the graphics chips. Under 3DMark Vantage test the device reached around 4170 points in the overall standings. The Schenker XMG A501 (W150HRM) notebook reached under the same processor with the Nvidia GeForce GT 555M has a significantly better result (5357 points). The Asus K53SV still moves with this video card in the upper third of our test database. The fitness game we tested additionally on the basis of some current games under various settings.

Performance hard drive

The internal hard drive from Western Digital offers with its ample storage capacity of 640 GB. The model WD6400BPVT-80HXZT1 works with 5400 revolutions per minute. With HD Tune, Crystal Disk Mark 2:55 and 3, we examined the performance of the hard disk. The 2.5 inch HDD ends up in the middle of our test database. The average transfer rate is 63.6 MB / s Also slow access time of 20.2 milliseconds speak not just for the hard drive, because there are some faster models on the market.

Gaming performance

According to the theoretical performance with 3DMark tests we have also tested the performance against five current games. The popular football game Fifa 11 comes with low hardware requirements and can be played smoothly in one second even at the highest detail level with 71 frames.
Call of Duty Black Ops, Dirt 3, Mafia 2, and it is critical already at a high level of detail at native resolution (1366x768). Here it comes now and then to small stuttering. Battelfield Bad Company 2 on high detail achieved only 26 frames, allowing the pleasure of playing is lost. Compared to other notebooks with identical features, the Asus K53SV placed here at the bottom of our database, away from the front runners (ex.: Asus K73SV 2410M/GT540M - 32 fps). In Mafia 2 benchmark test, the notebook can but then put back on top in the benchmark comparison.

Very mixed performance in the same benchmarks conducted to observe BC2 and very high graphics requirements: Throughout our benchmarks was especially in the demanding games like BF. This could be a first indication of thermally conditional throttling.
